Team 18 welcome Reynolds with colourful Camaro

By Thomas Miles

David Reynolds will make his Team 18 debut driving a colourful Camaro in the 2024 Supercars Championship.

Having left Penrite Racing after three-year stint which ended his decade-long wait between wins, Reynolds hopes to carry his winning momentum to Team 18.

The 38-year-old is just one of a number of new faces at Charlie Schwerkolt’s team which include Adrian Burgess and Dr Geoff Slater.

Reynolds will drive the #20 Camaro that Scott Pye raced last year and is aiming to bring the team to new heights in the colourful colours of new backer Tradie Beer.

Although they are similar colours to what Declan Fraser raced with at the back end of last year, Team 18 has added its own touch to the livery.

Reynolds also renews a partnership with Team 18 incumbent Mark Winterbottom with the pair having raced together at FPR/Prodrive from 2012-2015 which were some of the most productive years of both their careers.

Reynolds is a fan of the “popping” livery and feels at home in his new colours.

“I’m very excited to launch our special Tradie Beer livery today at the brewery,” he said.

“The car looks absolutely sensational. The colours are going to pop on track and stand out amongst the pack, and I just can’t wait to drive the car and see how fast we are.

“I’m so thrilled to join Team 18. I’ve worked with some of the guys before, especially Mark Winterbottom.

“Last time we worked together, we finished third and first in the championship. Some of the other guys I’ve also known for many years from previous teams.

“Every time I walk into the workshop, I get this huge burst of energy and I walk away with a big smile on my face. I’m excited to see what we can mould together for the year.”

Reynolds will get to drive a Gen3 Camaro for the first time and is looking forward to seeing the differences between the Chev and the Mustang firsthand at Winton tomorrow.

“We’ve got our first test day tomorrow and I’m really excited to drive a Camaro for the first time to figure out how different it is to the car I was in last year,” he said.

“We’re going to run through a lot of changes, a lot of setup ideas and testing.

“It will be full on but I’m really looking forward to it.”
