Medical emergancy halts Bend 500

The Bend

By Auto Action

Drama struck The Bend Motorsport Park on Saturday when a medical emergency involving a support-category crewmember – understood to be from the Aussie Racing Cars paddock, though not yet confirmed – forced a halt in proceedings.

The incident, believed to be a suspected heart attack and unrelated to on-track activity, saw a South Australian Ambulance Service helicopter land at the circuit during Practice 5 for the AirTouch 500.

Supercars issued a brief statement:

“Supercars and the promoter are aware of a medical incident that occurred today,” it read.

“We are working with the relevant authorities and will share further information when it becomes available.”

The AirTouch 500 at The Bend has carried on with the first FIA TCR World Tour race and Supercars qualifying taking place.
