Hazelwood excited for Time Attack

Todd Hazelwood Time Attack

By Thomas Miles

Reigning Bathurst 1000 winner Todd Hazelwood will bring some Supercars stardom to the Yokohama World Time Attack Challenge Sydney 2025.

Hazelwood will steer eye-catching Tanuki S13 Nissan Silvia, which features a massive rear wing.

It has previously been steered by Tim Slade and has been a big contender in the EMTRON Pro Class.

He hopes to be at the top of the leaderboard as the event fires up today and wraps up on Saturday night.

I am really excited to make my World Time Attack Challenge debut,” Hazelwood told Auto Action.

I will be brand new to his whole concept and what is involved with these types of cars.

The team at Tanuki with the S13 have produced an absolute rocketship and just cannot wait to get behind the wheel.

I have watched Tim Slades onboard and it looks a handful. When the boost comes on full tap, and how quickly it gets through the gears is pretty impressive.

I have not driven a car with that amount of aero before, but it will take me back to my days racing Formula 3 at Eastern Creek.

It will test my skills for sure.”

Whilst this is his debut at the event, Hazelwood revealed COVID robbed him of a previous crack at Time Attack.

I almost had the chance to do Time Attack, but unfortunately, COVID hit and the opportunity seized due to lockdowns,” he said.

That was the last time I had a genuine shot at having a crack at it, so to go there this year in a car that is known for its competitiveness should be great.

I am just trying to make the most of every opportunity I can.”

Hazelwood recently tested the S13 and he believes lap records are up for grabs.

“I will be competing in the Tanuki Racing Nissan S13 in the outright Pro class, aiming for lap records and fast top speeds,” he said.

“Recently I tested this car at Queensland Raceway and safe to say this piece of machinery is an absolute rocket ship.

“It will be a really cool challenge for me and I can’t wait to see how the team and I will perform together.

“The S13 Nissan is capable of generating 1,700nm of torque and creating 2 tonnes of rear downforce at speeds over 300km/h.

“This is by far the fastest piece of equipment I have ever strapped myself into and excited to feel the speed and acceleration at Sydney Motorsport Park.”
