Ryder Quinn joins Porsche Carrera Cup

Ryder Quinn has joined the 2023 Porsche Carrera Cup Australia grid, becoming the one-make category’s first third generation racer.
The 17-year-old Queenslander – grandson of racer and motorsport magnate Tony Quinn – will move into tin-top racing after completing his first full season in the national Formula Ford in 2022.
“The car and the championship is a very special one for me, given the heritage of the category and history of the car,” Quinn said on his socials.
“Super excited, It’s going to be a challenging year but we are ready. Bring it on!”

The inaugural Carrera Cup Australia season in 2003 saw both his father Klark, and grandfather Tony, competing, with the latter being a 28-time race winner, whilst Klark Quinn competed five season’s with a best finishing of P5.
Ryder is fresh from competing in the Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceanic Championship in New Zealand, where he grabbed two podiums in the early stages to finish seventh outright.
He also finished fourth in the 2022 Australian Formula Ford Championship, with three wins in a talented field.
His first Carrera Cup season will see him compete under the familiar Local Legends banner, in the #101 992 GT3 Cup car, the same car (re-shelled) that Tony Quinn had his huge crash in at the Townsville 500 in 2022.
Round 1 of the 2023 Carrera cup Australia will be at the Melbourne Grand Prix on March 30-April 2.
