VHRR celebrates “biggest” Winton FOS ever

The VHRR is on a high after the “perfect weekend” greeted the most successful Winton Festival of Speed ever held.
With sunny skies, bumper fields, classic cars from all eras and record-breaking crowds at the track and streaming, the 2025 Winton Festival of Speed was a success in every measure.
“It was the biggest Winton Festival of Speed ever,” VHRR organiser Ian Ross told Auto Action.
“We had record entries of 330, record crowds with ticket sales up about four times on last year.
“We didn’t see that coming. We noticed a groundswell of interest, but it exploded.
“We were lucky with the weather so that made it a perfect weekend.”
Whilst all the familiar categories make historic meetings such as these spectacles, a big focus of the event that made it distinct was on V8 Supercars from the 21st century.
Ross said seeing the likes of Jamie Whincup’s 2014 title winner in the Bathurst Air Force livery and Brad Jones’ 2001 Great Race challenger, plus Group A classics left a big impression.
“The crowds enjoyed particularly the Australian Touring Car Championship Group C and A cars, plus the 5 Lire and V8s,” he said.
“Everyone rushed to the fence to see those with the Dick Johnson overnight car and some Brock specials.
“It is becoming the V8 tin-top meeting of historics.”
Now the challenge will be to make it even bigger in 2026.
