Hazelwood to make Time Attack debut

Hazelwood to Time Attack

By Thomas Miles

Bathurst 1000 winner Todd Hazelwood will be a star attraction at the Yokohama World Time Attack Challenge Sydney 2025.

Hazelwood will make his debut at the popular annual event at Sydney Motorsport Park, which is slated for September 5-6 this year.

He will drive the eye-catching Tanuki S13, which features a massive rear wing.

The 2024 Bathurst 1000 winner and Trans Am champion will be representing the Team Tanuki Racing, which will be a big contender in the EMTRON Pro Class.

Hazelwood fills the shoes of another former Blanchard Racing Team and DJR Supercars driver in Tim Slade.

“It’s going to be an epic challenge and can’t wait to feel the power and downforce of this insane S13 Silvia,” Hazelwood said.

“Big thanks to Wayne and his team for the opportunity and trusting me to pilot this insane machine.”

Hazelwood’s weapon has been fitted with a new engine built by JHH, while it lots of work has also focused on wiring and suspension.

Team Tanuki Racing is fielding two cars with the other seat filled by Hana Burton.

Burton will drive a ‘Sumo’ wide-body Toyota GR Yaris in the fiercely competitive Haltech Clubsprint Class and she will also be making her debut at the event.

The Japanese-American racer scored Rookie of the Year honours in the 2022 Toyota Gazoo Racing Yaris Cup.

Since then, she has competed in the Kyojo Cup, Fuji Championship Series, and the 2023 Global Time Attack Finals.

Her Yaris has also been heavily upgraded featuring HKS coilovers, a new Cusco LSD, an upgraded brakes package, and new forged wheels from Koya Wheels.

Team Tanuki Team Owner Wayne Lee cannot wait to see his talented line up take on SMP.

“We’re incredibly excited about our driver lineup for WTAC 2025,” he said.

“Having a Bathurst 1000 winner like Todd join us in the S13 for EMTRON Pro Class is a massive boost – we have our eyes set on the big prize.

“It’s fantastic to have also Hana come over from Japan for her first WTAC in our Yaris for Haltech Clubsprint Class; she’s a brilliant talent.

“While managing two cars is a new challenge, we’re aiming for great results in both categories, and we feel prepared to make a real statement this year.”
