Vohra leaves Motorsport Australia

Sunil Vohra, CEO Motorsport Australia

By Thomas Miles

Motorsport Australia is looking for a new CEO after Sunil Vohra announced to be departing from the position.

Vohra has been in charge since October 2023, but less than two years he is on the way out.

His tenure arrived after Eugene Arocca had been at the helm for more than a decade.

Vohra came from an extensive executive background, but had competed in some racing himself in a Porsche at state level.

During his tenure, Motorsport Australia was able to report the much-needed news of flipping a $1,060,928 deficit into a $561,751 surplus in the 2023 and 2024 financial years, respectively.

It has also experienced a significant amount of staff turnover and offloaded the SpeedSeries to SRO, which has run the national events since 2024.

In Vohra’s absence, Motorsport Australia’s General Manager of People and Culture Nicky Lennon will act as interim CEO during the search for a replacement.

Motorsport Australia President Andrew Fraser thanked Vohra for his contribution to the sport.

“Since his appointment in 2023 Sunil has led a significant financial turnaround for Motorsport Australia and repositioned the organisation through strategic partnerships to deliver the national SpeedSeries and the Australian Rally Championship.

“Motorsport Australia’s focus will continue to be on the development of the sport across all levels, from grassroots participation to the highest levels of motorsport.”
