Sinni enters Super2 with Eggleston

By Thomas Miles

Victorian Formula Ford driver Jordyn Sinni will kickstart his Supercar career aboard a Triple Eight built Holden ZB Commodore with Eggleston Motorsport in the 2023 Super 2 Series.

Sinni has been racing in Formula Ford for the last three years and showed great improvement in 2022, rising from eighth top fifth in the national championship standings.

Operating as a family setup privateer team with his father Paul, Sinni has impressed by taking the fight up to bigger teams, but now jumps into the Supercars world with the well established Eggleston Motorsport.

Sinni joins Super3 race winner Kai Allen and Carrera Cup driver Cooper Murray in Eggleston Motorsport’s Super2 program for 2023.

The 20-year-old has not raced with a roof over his head for three years and knows Super2 will be a big step up, but feels ready for the challenge.

“A huge thanks to Eggleston Motorsport for welcoming me into the team, Christmas has certainly come early for me,” Sinni said.

“I am over the moon to be joining such a professional race team with such good history.

“It is still a pinch myself moment, and I am not sure it will seem real until we roll out at Newcastle for Round 1. I am so keen to get into testing and start putting in the hard work from day 1.

“I can’t thank my sponsors and family enough for everything they have all contributed to help me get to this point.

“I am looking forward to working with Ben, Rachael and the entire team to put our best foot forward and score some good results.”

Sinni’s career began in karts at the age of seven and he quickly built a formidable resume including winning an Australasian title and three state titles. He also finished second in the 2014 Australian Karting Championship and was crowned as a two time City of Melbourne winner.

He has also raced on the world stage, representing Australia at the Karting World finals in France.

Sinni progressed into tin tops in 2017 when he was 14 years old, collecting a number of podiums across various Hyundai Excel events before becoming a Formula Ford star.

He started racing in national and state Formula Ford championships in 2020 and has been a regular at the front of the field.

Sinni finished second twice in the Victorian Formula Ford state series championships in 2020 and 2022, while has recorded back to back top 10 championship results in the national series.

Across his state and national campaigns in 2022, he collected seven wins, including a pole position and round win at the opening round of the 2022 Australian Formula Ford Championship.

With Sinni a proven competitor across a number of disciplines and turning heads at a recent Supercars test, Eggleston Motorsport team co-owner and manager Rachael Eggleston is excited to add another young charger to the teams 2023 driver line up.

“Jordyn tested with us a few weeks ago and came to grips with driving a Supercar quite quickly which was a pleasant surprise,” she said.

“He showed instant natural ability and speed which is a massive plus for any race team. We can teach all the other parts.

“We have always been a big supporter of Formula Ford as a lead into Supercars, it is such a strong breeding ground and we can certainly pick the drivers who have progressed through the Formula Ford ranks.

“We are very excited to see what Jordyn can do in his rookie season, the test days in February cant come soon enough.”

Sinni will make his Dunlop Super2 Series debut on the streets of Newcastle on March 10-12.
