GRM PAIR BACK ON TRACK

The Garry Rogers Motorsport Peugeot pairing of Aaron Cameron and Dylan O’Keeffe both celebrated getting their TCR Australia Series campaigns back on track at Mount Panorama.
Entering the round with just one podium between them to start the season, Cameron and O’Keeffe were desperate to make inroads at Bathurst, and they did just that.
Cameron scored two race wins to emerge as the round winner, a result he was satisfied with.
“Everything went to plan, the Peugeot’s were really fast,” Cameron said.
“Getting another race win is great and it’s good to get our championship back on track.”
O’Keeffe also seemingly made the round podium with two third place finishes.
However, the latter was given a 10s penalty post-Race 3 which dropped him to ninth. Nevertheless, he sits third in the points standings heading into the next round at Sydney Motorsport Park.
While pleased with his series standing, O’Keeffe knows there is a lot to work on.
“The championship is what counts,” O’Keeffe said.
“We had a DNF at Tassie and it really hurt us but we’re still up there, we will keep pushing and keep fighting for the rest of the season.
“It’s rewarding and the crew at GRM have been working so hard, that race result was a bit bittersweet.
“I thought we were starting off second and they said we were for a long time and then all of a sudden we’re starting off third and so I knew it was going to be hard to pass James Moffat, really hard with his straight line speed.
“We’re really quick over the top but you can’t really do much, as a one lap car it’s really fast but as a race car it’s really struggling.”
Cameron was already looking ahead to the next round, as he aims to build on fresh momentum.
“Cool conditions [at SMP] with these turbo engine cars will be absolutely sublime,” Cameron concluded.
“We’ll see what we can do, hopefully the pugs are still at the front so we can get some more race wins, more podiums, and we’ll be happy.”
