TCR AUSTRALIA 2022 CALENDAR REVEALED

The 2022 TCR Australia Series calendar has been unveiled, the seven round series is highlighted by two races at Bathurst, commencing in February in Tasmania and concluding in November at The Mountain.
The seven rounds take place in four states, with one round taking place in Tasmania, one in Queensland, two in Victoria and three in New South Wales.
Notably as it did this year the TCR Australia Series will conclude at Bathurst, with the inaugural running next year of the Bathurst International.
The calendar visits some of Australia’s most historic circuits including Sandown raceway, Symmons Plains and the iconic Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.
The series will kick off with the second running of Race Tasmania at Symmons Plains Raceway, to be held from February 11-13, acting as the first major national circuit event in 2022.
Phillip Island has retained its traditional early season place on the schedule, and is followed by a trip to The Mountain as the main support to the Bathurst 6 Hour.
Round 4 is listed as a to be confirmed date and venue in New South Wales and will be confirmed in the near future.
Queensland Raceway returns to calendar in 2022 and will be followed by Sandown which retains its traditional September slot,
The season will conclude with a second trip to The Mountain with the maiden running of the Bathurst International.
“It is a pleasure to release the calendar for TCR in what we are anticipating to be a real break-out year for it,” said Australian Racing Group CEO Matt Braid.
“The stop/start nature of the past two seasons has been frustrating, but the support and enthusiasm from our great competitors has not wained. If anything, we are going to head into the year with more entrants than we would have expected in the current environment.
“The mix of circuits that we have confirmed is exciting, as it offers great variety for the drivers and teams, and also gives rare access for fans to see an international motorsport formula compete in the southern hemisphere.”
Braid was very thankful to the Bathurst Regional Council and Challenge Bathurst for allowing them to use the November 11-13 date.
“It’s great to lock away the date for the Bathurst International,” Braid continued. “We appreciate the cooperation of the Bathurst Regional Council, as well as the promotors of Challenge Bathurst to facilitate the movement of dates to achieve November 11-13.
“There is just one element of the calendar that needs to be formalised, but we are pleased to lay down what are the foundations of the 2022 season, and we can’t wait to see the teams get back to what they love most.”
The Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships Calendar has also been revealed which is very similar to the TCR schedule adding in the additional Phillip Island round previously reported by Auto Action.
The Shannons calendar will kick off at Phillip Island (the second round of the TCR Australia Series), before traveling to Bathurst for the 6 Hour, the TBC in NSW, Phillip Island 2, Queensland Raceway and concluding at Sandown International Raceway.
