Burcher ready for new TCR challenge

Super3 champion Cody Burcher is diving into the deep end as his first TCR laps will be against the world this weekend.
Burcher is making his TCR debut with Ash Seward Motorsport in a Lynk & Co that features the “Boxing Kangaroo.”
He will be looking to throw some punches as he comes to grips with the unfamiliar front-wheel drive against the World Tour experts.
Due to freight delays, the TCR schedule has been thrown out of whack with all of Friday’s runs wiped.
However, with the logistics moving faster than expected, there is a strong chance TCRs hit the track today.
A window starting at 17.55 local time is set to be opened up to give the TCRs an extra session before things get serious over the weekend.
This is not just a bonus for the TCR World Tour visitors, but also for rookie Burcher.
“I would like to be on today because the more time on track, the better,” he told Auto Action.
“I have not had the chance to test the car, so whenever our first session is, it will be my first laps.
“I did a few (GT4) races last weekend but until the first practice, it is just hang tight and go fast as we can.
Although Burcher’s preparation has been truncated with his first drive of the Lynk & Co to be the Bend opener.
Despite this, he has still put in the hours from studying on-board laps to picking the brains of Dylan O’Keeffe, who took two wins in the Lynk & Co last year.
“It was a little bit last-minute as it fitted in well between all my other racing commitments,” Burcher said.
“I already raced GT4 with Ash Seward Motorsport, so to jump into the TCR car with them is pretty cool.
“Every race car has its own quirks from the GT4 to Super2 and this.
“Right foot brake a Super2 car and left foot brake this and the axles are on different sides, front versus rear wheel drive.
“I have done lots of sim, talked to Ash a lot about it, watched a lot of footage and I have leaned on Dylan O’Keeffe a lot having raced it last year.
“It will be a completely new kettle of fish for me and see what we can do.
“If we have some speed that will be a bonus.
“With the World Tour coming in it is a cool opportunity to take on something new on a world-class track against world-class drivers.”
