Cameron Hill and Matt Stone Racing are in dream land after the Canberra driver calmly controlled Race 5 at Albert Park and take a special maiden success.
Hill nailed his first front row start by snatching the lead from Broc Feeney and leading all 12 laps to take a historic win by just half a second.
To make the celebrations even bigger teammate Nick Percat also kept the Triple Eight teammates at bay and ensured MSR an unforgettable 1-2.
The win comes in Hill’s 58th start, while it is MSR’s maiden formation finish in its 214th attempt.
Will Brown made a late move on Feeney to snatch the final step on the podium in a Safety Car truncated race with Jack Le Brocq crashing on the opening lap and David Reynolds getting turned.
Hill made the most of his first front row start by getting a good enough launch to not only challenge pole man Feeney, but take the inside line and steal the lead.
Feeney tried to fight back in the blast down to Turn 3, but Hill perfectly placed his car wide enough to open the door for teammate Percat to attack Feeney.
Percat got such a great run he even challenged his teammate around the outside of the following right hander.
But the pair orchestrated things well to safely set up a dream MSR 1-2 ahead of the Triple Eight Camaros.
However, the same cannot be said for the battle for eighth.
Ryan Wood and Le Brocq were side by side going through the fast and ever tightening right handerand the Erebus driver was the worse off after contact.
A door to door clash sent the #9 around and head on into the inside wall.
Whilst Le Brocq was out of action, the rest of the field did brilliantly to avoid the stricken Camaro.
The incident sparked an instant Safety Car and racing resumed on Lap 4 with both MSR Camaros leading the way.
In his first time leading the field at a start Hill again showed no nerves and immediately gapped his teammate.
But these gains again disappeared quickly as only one more lap was possible before another Safety Car arrived, this time for a beached David Reynolds.
Jones, Randle and Reynolds were three-wide coming into the opening corner and the Tickford driver hit the Team 18 Camaro at turn in, sending the #20 spinning into the gravel.
Just before the stoppage, an almighty battle for seventh erupted.
At the head of the pack were Kostecki and Stanaway, but a wheel clash exiting Turn 4 opened the door for Wood to sneak past as the #62 slumped from ninth to 11th.
When racing resumed Hill again perfected the launch and pulled half a second on Percat, who was keeping the Bulls at bay.
But the Triple Eight teammates were battling with Brown jumping Feeney and leaving the #88 behind.
As the race reached a climax the top three bunched up, but Hill kept cool to ensure no attacks could be made.
He entered the last lap with half a second on his teammate and was never challenged to complete a perfect drive.
Further back Murray held off Mostert, Payne and Allen in a busy fight for ninth that kept the viewers intrigued.
Stanaway went from fighting them for the top 10 to finishing down in 21st due to suspension dramas, only ahead of Wood, who pitted chasing the fastest lap and Reynolds.
But all the cheers are directed at MSR, which continues to show why it is a small team on the rise.
