More than 100 cars for 2024 Classic

GRAND ANNUAL SPRINTCAR CLASSIC

By Thomas Miles

More than a century of cars will chase the coveted Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic title at Warrnambool’s Premier Speedway in 2024.

The on time nomination window has closed with 102 cars entered for the biggest race on the calendar scheduled from January 19-21.

The big list of nominations includes Australian champions, former Classic winners, Supercars drivers, travelling Americans and more.

Last year Brock Hallett claimed an unforgettable Classic victory with a last lap move on Sheldon Haudenschild and both will be back to see if history repeats.

Hallett (2023), Lachlan McHugh (2022), James McFadden (2017,20), Corey McCullagh (2018), Jamie Veal (2016) and Kerry Madsen (2005, 07,08) are the former winners looking for more success at the famous race.

Hoping to join those names will be Australian champion Jock Goodyer, who is in flying form having won 10 of his last 14 starts.

Mildura boy and Tickford Supercars star Cameron Waters will be back on the dirt, continuing his summer of speedway with Chief Racing.

The two drivers who have been successful in the two sprintcar races held at Warrnambool this year, Veal and Grant Anderson are also back chasing more success.

The travelling Americans who want to make the trip over include Justin Peck, Chase Randall, Aaron Reutzel, Rico Abreu, Haudenschild and Brock Zearfoss.

Whilst the full field is locked in, the qualifying night fields are currently being compiled and will be published by this weekend.

The 2024 Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic will take place from January 19-21.
