Stellar F4 SEA weekend for AGI Sport in Sepang

By Timothy Neal

Australian F4 academy and racing team AGI Sport have capped off a big weekend of drivers titles, maiden victories and podiums, by also taking the Teams title at the final round of the F4 South East Asia Championship in Sepang.

The final round of the revitalised championship weekend started with 16-year-old Aussie Jack Beeton claiming his maiden International Junior Formulae title in Race 1, before Nicolas Stati took a maiden international victory in Race 2, whilst Peter Bouzinelos scored his first international podium in Race 3.

The big scoop of points saw the Sydney based squad tie with European team ART Grand Prix, only to win the Teams title on a race win count back, with Beeton contributing two of those wins in the first round in China at the Zhuzhou International Circuit.

It’s a big moment for the continued positive growth of the AGI Sport academy – lead by its talisman Adam Gotch – with the team now set to headline the revived Australian F4 Championship.

“Thank you to all the team members and drivers that worked so hard to win the team’s title,” Gotch said.

“Peter (Bouzinelos) also scored his first podium with a P3 in the final race here today at Sepang, whilst teammates Beeton and Stati finished the final race in P5 & P6 respectively…well done boys.”

Gotch and the AGI team has been involved with the interests of young Aussies all over the globe in 2023, from helping run the technical side of things at the Ferrari driver Academy in the Pacific region, to assisting drivers in America, Europe, and Asia.

For Stati’s big Race 2 win, his teammate Bouzinelos actually started on pole in the reverse grid (top-ten) affair.

Bouzinelos lost the lead early to Chinese young gun Kevin Xiao who took the lead, before the #46 Aussie driver took it back with a sensational move on the outside of Turn 4.

A restart saw the two then clash tyres with the Aussie taking a puncture, and with Xiao taking damage then getting a penalty, it put Stati in the lead from Race 1 winner Doriane Pin and Beeton.

Young Stati held the lead for two more tight laps in the #15 AGI Sport car, before another safety car saw the race finish with the young driver claiming his first international F4 victory to top off a great series for the team.

In races two and three, another young Aussie by the name of Lincoln Taylor also put in a great showing in his first International F4 weekend.

Driving for the Hong Kong based BlackArts Racing, Taylor took out straight P4 finishes in both Race 2 and Race 3, which also meant that both he and Bouzinelos filled the last two spots of the Rookie podium also.
