Beswick finds reward in the US

Young Aussie Eddie Bewick has finally gotten some podium reward in the USF 2000 with Synergy Motorsport on the streets of Toronto, with the Aussie team also casting a keen eye toward the last round and next season, when they can then open up more opportunities for interested drivers.
On the IndyCar Road to Indy support bill, Beswick returned to the scene of his positive 2024 debut and made it count, briefly cracking the top ten in the standings for his Race 1 efforts.
The former Formula Ford driver cracked into the series this season with Aussie team Synergy Motorsports as a single-car contender. After a difficult start to the year, with frustrating mechanical issues playing a role, Beswick has consistently found himself in the top ten.
The team has needed to make certain personnel adjustments behind the scenes after its initial trials and tribulations, but things are now humming along nicely ahead of the final round in Portland.

Beswick finally got his podium reward in the USF 2000
Team owner Justin Cotter is proud of Beswick’s resilience in an unexpectedly tough season that is now back on track, whilst next year they are looking to expand with two cars in the USF 2000 – and perhaps two more in the USF Juniors – opening the door for more young Aussie talent to go and bang the US “Road to Indy” door down.
“The goals are to keep running in the top times like we have been at the last three meetings,” Cotter told Auto Action.
“We haven’t shown that pace unfortunately, but it’s there now. Good help was hard to come by early in the season with ongoing wiring loom issues causing no end of problems. I was confident of Eddie leading into this year, but with one arm tied behind our backs to an extent, some unforeseen issues were working against us.
“He’ll be going for the wins next year, no doubt. Most kids here are in their second or third year, and there’s no reason why Eddie can’t take the title next year and move up with the big scholarship money on offer. He has the pace and he’s starting to show it with a reliable car.”
In the opening race, Beswick bided his time as chaos unfolded in front of him in the closing laps, swooping in for a fine second place in a career best finish as series leader Jack Jeffers and Thomas Schrage bickered for the lead.
“Schrage made a few mistakes, and I saw that it was closing up and I was at a nice distance where I could make an opportunity of it if they tripped over each other,” Beswick said.
“When a crash happens, it washes wide. I went down the inside. I was confident with the pace the whole time. We just didn’t get to do it in qualifying.
“When I was there, I felt like I belonged there. So when I got in front, it was eyes forward. Teddy had a crack at the end there. It got me a bit nervous, but, man, I’m happy. We’ve had so much hard luck, and it’s been difficult.
“You know, there’s no way it was ever going to be easy. We’ve been sitting around the back, sitting around P10, and then all of a sudden, I’m here in second. I don’t know what to say, but it’s been so much hard work, and it’s so awesome to give the boys back something that they deserve.”
Beswick has one more round left in Portland to add to the podium tally and crack the top ten on August 7-10.
