Barter gets big opportunity

By Thomas Miles

Former Australian FIA Formula 3 driver Hugh Barter has a chance to revive his career through Formula E.

Barter will take part in the Formula E rookie test in Berlin on Monday, July 14, with the Lola Yamaha ABT team.

Since completing his only full F3 campaign back in 2023, Barter has only started 14 races, but enjoyed plenty of success.

In 2025 he started just five races, but took three wins in the Formula 4 Indian Championship.

This year, he has secured a seat with Winfield Racing in the Ultimate Cup European Series where he has carried on the winning ways.

In the endurance style series, he has won seven of the nine races held so far and leads the championship.

But his chance to insert himself back into the open-wheel limelight with the upcoming Formula E test.

“I’m excited to announce that I’ll be taking part in the Berlin Rookie Test on July 14th, representing Lola Yamaha ABT Formula E!” He said.

After months of dedication and countless hours working with the team on the simulator, I’m incredibly proud to finally bring all that hard work to the track. This opportunity marks a significant step in my journey, and I can’t wait to experience the unique challenge of Formula E machinery in Berlin.

“A huge thank you to everyone at Lola Yamaha ABT for their trust and support, and to my family, sponsors, and everyone who’s backed me along the way. I’m looking forward to learning as much as possible and making the most of this chance.”
