Volante Rosso Motorsport confirm early B12H entries

By Timothy Neal

GT World Challenge Australia frontrunners Volante Rosso Motorsport has confirmed it will enter two of its Mercedes-AMG GT3’s for February’s Bathurst 12 Hour.

The team will spread its AMG’s over two classes, with one in the Pro-Am and one in the Silver/Bronze class.

They’re yet to confirm the drivers lineup but have said that they have had discussions and are looking to pair an international option with a local driver.

This season has been a successful one for the team, the #101 Mercedes in the GTWC having seen strong performances from Jayden Ojeda and Ross Poulakis.

“With our entries confirmed, I met with (fellow team owner) Chris Papadopoulos last week to really begin zoning in on our driving team as the program takes shape,” explained Volante Rosso Motorsport’s Motorsport Director, Josh Hunt.

“There are many Australian and international drivers that would be suitable for Volante Rosso Motorsport’s 12 Hour team across the entries in both classes.”

The Volante Rosso Motorpsort team have jumped early to confirm two entries at the 2024 Bathurst 12 Hour

Alongside Ojeda and Poulakis’ race wins and podiums, the team has also had success in the Radical Cup Australia, taking a championship with the talented 16-year-old Alex Gardner behind the wheel of their #93 SR3 RSX.

“We’ve had a tremendous year in 2023 GT including a podium at the Bathurst 12 Hour and race wins in GT World Challenge Australia – along with the Radical Cup Australia – taking out that Championship, so it has been a year of great progression for our team.”

After starting the year with a class P2 at the Bathurst 12 Hour, Papadopoulos say’s that the entire team has shown the way forward to be able to commit to a strong 2024, starting with the B12H.

“Our engineering team has been able to get a really great handle on the Mercedes-AMG GT3 in 2023, and the Pirelli DHF Tyre compound,” Papadopoulos added.

“The crew at Volante Rosso Motorsport have left no stones unturned to extract more from the cars and how we can unlock the maximum performance from them, and consistently.

“Our commitment to 2024 starts with being one of the early entries into the Bathurst 12 Hour as the event approaches its 100 day countdown.”

The Bathurst 12 Hour gets underway on February 16-18, and with ticket sales already going strong, organisers are hoping to surpass last year’s record crowd figure of 53,466, with plenty of international marquee names set to enter once again.
