Last chance Australian Grand Prix tickets on sale next week

By Thomas Miles

A limited final release of Australian Grand Prix tickets will go on sale next week on Wednesday, February 8.

After the original release of Saturday and Sunday grandstand and Park Pass (General Admission) tickets sold out in the space of just a couple of hours, next week’s release could be the last chance for fans to guarantee a spot at the famous Formula 1 race.

Last year’s Australian Grand Prix at Albert Park was the first in three years and attracted a record four-day attendance of 419,114.

It smashed the previous record of 401,000 set in 1996 when the race arrived in Melbourne for the first time following a decade in Adelaide.

In response to the record-breaking crowd, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation increased the capacity of the Albert Park street circuit with 16 grandstands now on offer.

After huge numbers flocked to watch Charles Leclerc score Ferrari a third Australian Grand Prix win in four attempts, another big crowd is anticipated in 2023.

In addition to the F1 circus, the FIA Formula 2 and Formula 3 championships are coming down under for the first time.

It means not only fans can cheer for Aussie McLaren driver Oscar Piastri, but also fellow compatriots Jack Doohan, Christian Mansell, Tommy Smith and Hugh Barter in the feeder categories.

Other supports include round 2 of the 2023 Supercars Championship, which will be the Melbourne 400, plus the Porsche Carrera Cup.

There will also be family activities, high-tech activations, food, entertainment and live music on offer off the track.

Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO Andrew Westacott said he expects the remaining tickets to sell out swiftly.

“We set a new attendance record as we returned to Albert Park in 2022 with more than

419,000 at the event across the four days and we’re delighted to see such high interest in our event once again,” he said.

“We’ve worked really hard to configure our venue in a manner that maximises the opportunity for more fans to experience F1, F2 and F3. Final venue and design reviews have now provided us with the opportunity to get this limited allocation out to the fans.

“Grandstand and Park Pass tickets for Sunday of the event sold out in under four hours late last year, and we anticipate that this limited release will get snapped up just as fast. We encourage fans to be online early to secure a ticket.”

Tickets for Thursday and Friday remain on sale with Park Passes beginning at $40, while kids 14 and under can attend free with a paying adult on those two days.

A full track schedule will be revealed in the coming days, with the event to take place from March 30 to April 2.

Tickets can be found at https://www.grandprix.com.au/tickets/park-pass and will be available from 10am Wednesday, February 8.
