Dick Johnson Racing has turned to outside of the motorsport world for guidance once again with former AFL coach David Noble joining the famous team.
Noble was announced as DJR’s new Chief Executive Officer today and the two-year North Melbourne coach will bring some “Shinboner Spirit” to the famous Ford squad with immediate effect.
The 55-year-old has over two decades of sports administration and coaching experience at the Kangaroos, Adelaide Crows and Brisbane Lions.
Noble said he is excited by the challenge of transferring his AFL knowledge into the motorsport world.
“The opportunity to work with Shell V-Power Racing Team in such a competitive industry is incredibly exciting and a challenge that I am looking forward to,” he said.
“It is a privilege to be working in such a well respected and iconic business.
“I look forward to working with our staff and partner group as we embrace the challenges of being a successful organisation.”
Noble joins recent shareholders the Ralph family, who own the Melbourne Aces Baseball Club and is part of a restructure at DJR with Executive Chairman Dr Ryan Story, stepping down from day-to-day duties.

But Story will still remain around the team as Non-Executive Chairman and said Noble will be “a perfect fit for the team”.
“It is fantastic to welcome David as the CEO of the Shell V-Power Racing Team, effective immediately” he said.
“David has excellent experience in business and sports administration at the highest level and he is a perfect fit for this team.
“This restructure also means that I am stepping down from the day-to-day running of the Shell V-Power Racing Team. However, will remain as the Non-Executive Chairman moving forward.
“We have the perfect people in place who continue to lead on and off the track for the Shell V-Power Racing Team.”
The face of DJR, Dick Johnson said Noble is the right man for the job and also thanked Story for his service, being an integral part of the team’s rise from the back of the grid to the top.
“I have sat down with David and based on all his experience and business acumen; I can’t think of anyone better to run the team day-to-day,” he said.
“Ryan has done an incredible job leading this team and getting it to where it currently is, and I know it is only on the way up with the people we have in place in the team.”
Noble was a significant part of the Adelaide Crows eight finals campaigns between 2005 and 2016 and his new home DJR is racing at his former workplace this weekend.

'description' => 'The Supercars Championship, currently known as the Repco Supercars Championship, is the premier motorsport category in Australasia and one of Australia\'s biggest sports. It originated from the Australian Touring Car Championship (ATCC), which held its first race in 1960 at Gnoo-Blas in Orange, New South Wales. The ATCC evolved over the years, and in 1997, it was rebranded as the V8 Supercars Championship, eventually becoming the Supercars Championship we know today.
Some of the leading drivers in the history of the Supercars Championship include Peter Brock, who is often referred to as the "King of the Mountain" for his nine victories at the Bathurst 1000, a race that is considered one of the biggest in the series.
