Australian professional baseball team, the Melbourne Aces, has extended its footprint into the sporting capital of the world by acquiring a major stake in Australia’s oldest and most successful Supercars motor racing team: Dick Johnson Racing.

The Melbourne Aces are owned by the Ralph family, and have been investing heavily in sporting organisations around the country.

With two cars competing in the Supercars Championship, Car #11 driven by Anton De Pasquale and Car #17 driven by Will Davison, the Melbourne Aces have bought into a famous sporting institution.

De Pasquale has been a sporting ambassador of the Melbourne Aces and has attended many games at the Melbourne Ballpark during the sports off season.  Anton has also had the honour of throwing out the first pitch of the game.

Dick Johnson and Ryan Story will still hold thier significant shares, and will also maintain the operations as they have been doing.

“I am excited to announce today the team’s partnership with the Ralph family,” Said story over the Supercars official website.

“Brett and the Ralph family are strategic investors at DJR, with the current management structure we have in place continuing to run the business day to day as they have been.

“Brett and the Ralph family are fantastic people, and we couldn’t imagine partnering with anyone else.

“They are extremely experienced business people with a passion for sport that is undeniable.

“From the moment I first spoke with Brett he and I just clicked, and I knew we would have a fantastic working relationship.”

Melbourne Aces owner Brett Ralph, spoke about the buy-in, and about the Aces intentions on buying in on Australia’s sporting landscape.

“The Melbourne Aces have been a major player in the Australian sporting scene via its involvement in the Australian Baseball League for the past 13 years and are the current holders of the prestigious Claxton Shield, the second oldest trophy in Australian Sport,” Ralph said.

“To succeed in sport today, all sporting organisations need to be run like a business and look at diverse ways of investing.  We know and understand the reach and pull of the Repco Supercars Championship with the sporting fans in Australia, and we are so looking forward to being a part of that. Dick Johnson Racing has a proud and rich history in the sport and is a perfect partner for the Melbourne Aces.”
