BATHURST 12 HOUR ENTRY LIST RELEASED

The entry list for the Bathurst 12 Hour has been released… well, most of it anyway.
A total of 20 cars will take to the grid from May 13-15, however several driver slots are listed as ‘TBA’ because the factory drivers from Mercedes-AMG and Audi Sport are yet to be announced.
Four factory Audi international racers will be announced to fill two of the six-cars entered by the Audi Sport Customer Racing Australia team.
The Mercedes-AMG travellers are also expected to be confirmed in the coming days, completing the driver list.
The field for the 2022 edition of the race will feature 15 entries in the Class A GT3 Pro-Am and GT3 Am categories, while other cars will battle in the Porsche GT3 Cup and Invitational classes.
Doubling as both the opening round of the GT World Challenge Australia Endurance Championship and the Intercontinental GT Challenge, the 2022 race will welcome a range of marques, Audi, Mercedes-AMG, Porsche and Lamborghini fighting for outright honours.
Audi will be strongly represented with seven cars entered, steered by the likes of Chaz Mostert, Lee Holdsworth, Bathurst winner Nick Percat and current Australian Drivers’ Champion Joey Mawson.
Mercedes-AMG field six cars, headlined by the Triple Eight Race Engineering entry driven by reigning Supercars champion Shane van Gisbergen and rookie star Broc Feeney.
Three cars are set to contest the GT3-Am category, while two Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Cars are listed in Class C.
The Invitational category contains the KTM X-Bow GT2 and a pair of MARC II V8 entries.
“Considering the challenging environment in which we are staging the race this year, we are pleased with the field,” Bathurst 12 Hour Motorsport Operations Manager, Paul Martin said.
“There was no shying away from the fact that this was going to be a challenging year to run the event, but we were committed to putting on the show and we are confident that it will be a very good race based on the field we have.
“It might not be the largest field in Bathurst 12 Hour history, however it is extremely high quality.
“We are thrilled with the way teams have embraced our changes this year, changes that have been designed to support the ‘Am’ drivers as best as possible.
“The quality and depth of talent throughout the grid is already world class, with several of the key international names yet to be unveiled. The local names already confirmed are among the best drivers in the country and they will put on a show.
“There’s no doubt in our minds that this year will be another memorable chapter in the history of the Bathurst 12 Hour.”
