SHANNONS PACKED SMP SCHEDULE REVEALED

The schedule for the Shannons Nationals and SpeedSeries round at Sydney Motorsport Park has been revealed and contains multiple races under lights on Saturday night.

The event takes place from May 27-29 Both Friday and Saturday’s proceedings will run long into the night, with action on track both days well after 7pm AEST.

The action-packed schedule at SMP features eight national categories including the TCR Australia Series, S5000 Australian Drivers’ Championship, the ever-popular Touring Car Masters and Trans Am Series.

Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge and the Australian Production Cars will contest there first rounds of the season, while Radical Cup Australia and the Australian Prototype Series complete the bumper schedule.

Action commences on Friday at 8.30am with every category practicing throughout the day and a majority qualifying under lights on Friday night.

Saturday’s on-track action begins at 9am and features 11 races across the day, with TCR’s opening race under lights from 6.45pm concluding proceedings.

Sunday then sees a further dozen races occur from 7.20am when the Production Car Series starts its 300km race. TCR’s third and final race bookends the weekend, commencing at 4.10pm.

Motorsport Australia Director of Motorsport & Commercial Operations Michael Smith expects the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championship round to be one of the best yet.

“With 23 races across the weekend, fans are in for something very special,” Smith said.

“The opportunity to watch so many high quality, national categories in the one place is certainly very rare and to see so much racing across the three days will make it a weekend to remember.

“All fans will also be able to access the pit paddock and also be part of selected grid walks prior to races. The best part is, all of this is possible with the one very affordable general admission ticket, which can now be purchased from motorsporttickets.com.au.

“You won’t get a much better motorsport experience than this and being in Sydney, we know it’s a great opportunity to make a weekend of it and enjoy everything the harbour city has to offer.”

Tickets for the Sydney event now on sale and are available from www.motorsporttickets.com.au, with free entry on Friday (patrons must still register for their free ticket).

Tickets will also be available to purchase at the gate, however fans are encouraged to pre-purchase to avoid the expected ticket purchase queues at the gate.
