There is nothing in it ahead of the Top 10 Shootout as Brodie Kostecki topped qualifying by 0.0081s, while Will Brown’s tough Saturday continued.
Kostecki nailed a 1:49.3947 with his final lap in Qualifying for the AirTouch 500 at The Bend.
It was just enough to beat Broc Feeney and Cameron Waters as they both emerged within a tenth adrift.
With practice out of the way, things got serious in qualifying, where teams chased
Drivers were straight into the 1m49s bracket with Percat leading the way.
He was the only driver to record such a time straight off the bat, being a tenth clear of Murray and Evans.
Feeney fired a second attempt and went purple in the first sector, but only managed second best, which was soon eclipsed by Le Brocq by 0.012s.
Percat’s time managed to last throughout the opening run as De Pasquale, Reynolds, Stanaway and Golding waited until the midpoint to go on the attack and it paid off.
The Team 18 drivers went straight to the top with De Pasquale beating Reynolds by a tenth, only for Wood to find an extra two tenths.
Kostecki came close to knocking off the #2 straight away, but fell 0.0247s short.
Sadly, his DJR teammate Davison was stuck in the lane with front-wheel alignment issues after the nuts were not done up properly.
But with assistance from Triple Eight, the team worked hard to get the #17 out with six minutes to go and sitting 25th, the veteran had work to do.
Ahead of the final dash, the likes of Feeney and Brown found themselves out of the 10, while Golding had not even done a single lap in anger.
Feeney put the foot down and went to the top with a 1:49.4028, which was almost matched by Waters.
However, the same cannot be said for the #1 Triple Eight Camaro as Brown could only achieve a lap fast enough for 16th, being a distant seven tenths adrift.
Others to make big leaps were Hill and Mostert, while Murray snuck into the top 10 by a tenth, denying Percat.
Ending the session with a bang was Kostecki as he clawed the session by 0.0081s.
