INJECTION OF CLASS FOR TCR AT BATHURST

INJECTION OF CLASS FOR TCR AT BATHURST

By Timothy Neal

The entry list for the TCR Australia Series round at Mount Panorama has been revealed, with a couple of driver changes mixing up the field for Round 3.

A total of 21 front-wheel-drive TCR machines will take to the Bathurst circuit this weekend, as part of the support bill for the Bathurst 6 Hour event.

Leading the new additions will be Tim Slade, slotting into the Stan Sport seat of Fabian Coulthard who was forced to withdraw after testing positive to Covid-19.

Slade will be on TCR debut, looking to channel his wide variety of racing experiences to get the most out Coulthard’s Honda Civic Type R TCR which is fourth in the standings.

Joining Slade as an addition to the grid is familiar face Luke King, who returns to the series after finishing fourth in 2021.

King will drive a DashSport Hyundai i30 N TCR for the remainder of the season, looking to recapture his previous form.

Alongside the new names, all the title contenders will be battling for points on The Mountain, led by Honda Wall Racing’s Tony D’Alberto who just two points clear of GRM Peugeot driver Jordan Cox.

Youngsters Zac Soutar and Jay Hanson are right around the mark, driving a privateer Honda and the sole-latest generation Audi RS3 LMS TCR in the southern hemisphere, respectively.

TCR Australia begins its third round at 8:50am Friday, April 15 as part of a bumper Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour event during the Easter long weekend.

Trans Am Series, Australian Pulsar Racing Association, NSW Historic Touring Cars and NSW HQ Holdens complete the bill.

Pick up the current issue of Auto Action which includes the official Bathurst 6 Hour program for all the details of this weekend’s event.

All the racing action this Easter long weekend can be seen live and on-demand via Stan Sport on Saturday and Sunday.
