GARRY’S BP ULTIMATE SUPERSPRINT SUPPORT WRAP – DAY 2

Cameron Crick and Jordan Cox headed their respective SuperUtes and Improved Production categories at the BP Ultimate Sydney SuperSprint, at Sydney Motorsport Park on Sunday.
HALTECH V8 SUPERUTE SERIES
Frantic racing worked in favour of Crick in his Mitsubishi Triton where he won two of the three races to take the points ahead of Aaron Borg (Toyota Hilux) who maintained his points lead while Ryal Harris (Mazda BT-50) finished third despite dramas along the way.
The first outing (race two) was the reverse top six, half points race where Harris started sixth and easily led at the end of the first lap. Crick quickly moved to second and eventually finished third when passed by Borg.
Gerard and Jaiden Maggs started off the front row in their Tritons, but the former had a poor start and dropped down the order. The latter held third until an incident at Turn 2 with Matt McLean (Hilux), turned him around and put him out. McLean recovered to fourth ahead of David Sieders (Triton) and Craig Woods (Hilux).
In Race 3 Harris edged out Borg for the lead at the start. It would become a close-fought encounter with much panel rubbing between the pair. So much so that Crick became involved, and he benefited when Borg blew a tyre and Harris dropped a cylinder.
In the end Crick won ahead of McLean with Sieders third in front of Woods, Chris Formosa (Ford Ranger) and Harris. Borg struggled home tenth.
In the last Crick led until Harris passed him on lap four. The lead did not last for Harris as his BT-50 went off song again. Crick went on to win as Sieders a team one-two as he doggedly held off Borg. Woods was next ahead of Jaiden and Gerard Maggs. McLean limped home for tenth on a blown right front tyre.

Jordan Cox capped of the fourth and final round with a win in the last race to be the overall and over 2.0 litre winner. He finished ahead of Trevan Spiteri (Mitsubishi EVO 6) with under 2.0 litre winner Kurt McCready (Nissan Silvia) third.
Lachlan McBrien (BMW E46 M3) emerged clear of the multi-car dice for fourth with Chris Thomas (Holden Torana) next after he repassed Peter Hennessy (BMW M3R) on the final lap. Close behind were Ryan Jagger (Holden Barina) and Justin McClintock (Honda Civic). Scott Tutton and Darren Herbert were also in contention until their EVOs tangled at Turn 5 midway through the race.
The second race was cut short with a red flag after three laps, the result of an incident after Turn 3 where Dan Ridley spun and was hit by Danny Timewall. Both Holden Commodores were badly damaged.
Prior to that Spiteri had won the start and Tutton was briefly ahead of Cox. The latter quickly grabbed back second and was close on the race leader when the accident occurred.
McBrien and McCready both displaced Tutton while Nigel Williams (Commodore) had sixth ahead of Thomas, Herbert, Jagger and Hennessy.
