GRM PLANS TCR LEASE PROGRAM

Garry Rogers Motorsport (GRM) is planning a customer lease program, offering up three brand new TCR Australia Series cars from its fleet.
The Melbourne-based team has been storing three unused TCR machines in its Dandenong headquarters, two Peugeots and one Alfa Romeo, and wants to see the cars added to the competition field by a third party.
GRM is unwilling to add to its seven entries already running in the TCR Australia Series, but Director Barry Rogers explained that an attractive lease program is available for teams or individuals wanting to join the series.
“The next step for GRM is to expand our customer lease program,” Rogers said.
“We have no intention of running more cars ourselves, but we have the capability of assisting private entries. Anyone who wants to race in TCR under their own banner, we can aid in the process.
“We’ve got all the spares for all the cars, there’s not a big investment for anybody to go and gear up with components or technical resources.
“This is one of the easiest ways to get into TCR. If you’re out there and want to get yourself in a competitive TCR car, pick up the phone and ring us.
“We’re old used car salesmen at heart, so we’re good at doing deals here at GRM!”
Alfa Romeo, Peugeot and Renault cars all feature in GRM’s stable, as the team is the agent for both Alfa Romeo and Peugeot and is a development partner of the Renault Megane R.S. TCR.
Aaron Cameron is the best performing GRM driver of the 2021 series thus far, sitting fifth in the standings driving a Valvoline sponsored Peugeot 308.
Behind him is Jordan Cox, who is eighth in an Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce after collecting consecutive wins in the first round of the season at Symmons Plains.
Burson Auto Parts Racing driver Ben Bargwanna is 11th, ahead of James Moffat, Michael Caruso, Jason Bargwanna and Dylan O’Keeffe who complete GRM’s representation.
While the spare TCR cars are on offer to keen parties, Rogers clarified that GRM’s priority was to expand the range of manufacturers in Australian TCR.
“We’d certainly look at people looking to get involved and lease a car, but we’re also keen on some new marques coming in,” Rogers said.
Chaz Mostert is the man to beat in TCR Australia for 2021, leading the series on 452 points ahead of Luke King and Josh Buchan.
The next round of competition is a doubleheader at The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia from October 15-17.
