Australian Oscar Piastri’s livery for the 2021 FIA Formula 2 Championship has been unveiled ahead of the official pre-season test at the Sakhir International Circuit in Bahrain.

In 2020 Victorian Piastri shot into the spotlight by winning the third-tier FIA Formula 3 Championship in his maiden season.

The Aussie took two impressive victories and backed it up with a further four podiums to win the F3 title with the Prema Racing team.

This year the 19-year-old makes the step up to the second-tier series with the Italian squad replacing the F1 bound reigning F2 champion Mick Schumacher at the team.

Piastri will join the 2019 F3 champ Robert Shwartzman at the team, the Russian took more victories than anyone in F2 last season including his teammate Schumacher.

In 2021 Shwartzman will run the #1 machine while Piastri will run with the #2 around his Prema machine.

Despite the similar colour scheme, there are some distinct differences between the cars, Piastri will run with a red halo and front wing end plates, while Schwartzman’s are blue.

As well as HPTuners, Alpine branding can be found around the Aussie’s vehicle as he continues with the French manufacturer.

After winning the 2019 Formula Renault Eurocup Piastri was signed up by Renault as part of its junior academy.

For 2021 the Renault junior academy has been renamed to the Alpine junior academy following the brand relabelling and rebranding of the team in Formula 1.

The three-day pre-season F2 test in Bahrain takes place later this week from March 9-11.
