Ninovic and Pradel take GB3 wins

It was another great weekend for the Aussie quartet of drivers in the British GB3 Championship, with two winners and a swag of podiums at Silverstone.
Series leader and Rodin Motorsport driver Alex Ninovic again scooped up a win in Race 1 after taking twin poles, while his teammate Gianmarco Pradel also took one out in Race 3.
The two other regular GB3 Aussies, Patrick Heuzenroeder and Noah Lisle, also grabbed podiums in Races 2 and 3, respectively.
It’s been a fantastic year all around for the quartet, but it’s Ninovic, Heuzenroeder, and Pradel that lead the way in that order, with Ninovic holding a 39-point advantage up top, whilst only seven points split the latter pair.
Ninovic has been a consistent beast in the #12 Tatuus MSV GB3-025 with four race wins on the year and only one finish outside the top ten, with two retirements.
“Really excited to start from pole and get off well, something I’ve failed to do recently, and from there I extended the gap to avoid the DRS, so happy with that,” Ninovic said after the win.
“To get the one-two (Pradel in second) is also good for the championship.”
For Pradel, his lights-to-flag effort in the closing race was his second win of the year as he tries to close the gap to compatriot Heuzenroeder from the Xcel Motorsport camp.
“It’s great to finish the weekend off with the win, really chuffed,” Pradel said.
“It was just about building the gap in the first few laps, then just maintaining it. Brands Hatch is a real confidence-based track, so carrying this win over is important for me.”
Only three rounds remain in the GB3, and so far, it’s looking like an Aussie championship win is likely, with UAE Keanu Al Azhari the closest to the three, but 68 points off Ninovic.
The legendary Brands Hatch is next on August 23-24, with Donington Park to follow before the GB3 ends its season with its fourth intercontinental round at Monza in October.
