The Asian Le Mans Series will return to The Bend Motorsport Park for the 2021/2022 season after being left off the 2020/2021 calendar.

An inaugural four-hour race comprising LMP2, LMP3 and GT cars took place at the world-class facility earlier this year, however when Asian Le Mans organisers released the 2020/2021 calendar The Bend was a surprise omission.

The ALMS calendar was further amended due to the COVID-19 pandemic with two rounds each taking place at Chang International Circuit in Thailand and Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia during January next year.

But the race will return for the 2021/2022, 2022/2023 seasons, which is a thrill for The Bend managing director Sam Shahin.

“After so much uncertainty regarding major events, we’re very pleased to confirm the return of the Asian Le Mans Series for two more events,” Shahin said.

“It was an incredible sight to see international motorsport at The Bend for the inaugural event utilising the 7.77km GT track, with nothing but positive feedback from spectators and participants. It was an added bonus that many of the drivers and teams were visiting Australia and for many South Australia, for the first time.”

The race earlier this year was won by American James French, Dutchman Leonard Hoogenboom and Russian Roman Rusinov for G-Drive Racing in the Algarve Aurus 01 Gibson.
