TICKFORD RELEASES PERFORMANCE TUNE FOR MUSTANG

Tickford Racing’s performance tuning arm for road cars has released a new ECU recalibration tune for the Ford Mustang GT.

The ECU tune liberates an additional 61kW and 76Nm and therefore adding considerable power to the new generation vehicle.

With the standard Mustang GT producing an impressive 339kW of power and 556Nm of torque, Tickford enhancements have led to an overall result of 400kW and 632Nm for both manual and automatic models, without the use of forced induction.

The previous model Mustang (MY15-17) produced 360kW, up from the standard vehicle’s 306kW, but required the use of additional modification including a cold air intake with a K&N filter and three-inch full exhaust system.

“We obtained one of the first Mustangs to land on Australian shores, and immediately commenced development work to understand the implications of the subtle changes made to the engine by Ford, including the use of direct injection and an active exhaust.” said Rod Nash, Tickford Managing Director.

“Over this past month or so, the engineering team have been working feverishly on the new engine and understanding the implications of the engine updates, as well as the new active exhaust system. Following weeks spent on the dyno, this is the end result, which we are very happy with. It certainly enhances the power and driveability of the car.”

The new ECU recalibration is now available on MY18 Mustang GTs via the Melbourne Tickford Enhancement Centre (TEC) in Campbellfied, VIC, and will be rolled out to all TECs over the coming weeks. The retail price starts at $2,750 including GST and warranty.
