Australian Motor Racing Series have made a adjustment to their provisional calendar for 2018 to avoid going head to head with the Supercars season finale in Newcastle.

Originally the final round at Winton Raceway had been scheduled for the same weekend as the final Supercars round, but has now been brought forward one week to be run on the 16th-18th November.

The news comes at the Australian Motor Racing Series (AMRS) announces a packed program with 12 categories for it’s opening round, also at Winton Raceway on the 9th-11th March.

The Mazda RX8 Cup Series, Group 4 Touring Cars/Super Six Touring Cars, Aussie Racing Utes, Australian Formula 3 Premier Series, Australian Formula Ford Series, Miniature Race Cars, IROC/Classic Porsche, Victorian TT Series, TA2 Series, Vic Super Karts, Legend Cars and Stock Cars will all participate at the event.

The AMRS category management also confirmed the introduction of a new, “GT Lites” Series, targeted at owners of GT and Sports cars. The GT Lites Series will compete at the last five AMRS rounds.

AMRS organiser Wayne Williams said the response since the launch of AMRS has been overwhelming.

“Not only have we been inundated with requests from categories wanting to be part of the series, the categories themselves have been blown away by the expressions of interest from competitors wanting to race,” said Williams

“We’ve also had to create the GT Lites category because of the high demand from sports car owners wanting to enjoy the value for money, track time and exposure provided by the AMRS.”

“From the start, we believed that if we could offer competitors and categories an environment to race at a national level, with the benefits of online exposure and a streamlined entry process, that it would suit the needs of a lot of competitors – and the response we’ve had so far has certainly proven that,”
