New date for Adelaide Motorsport Festival

Mazda 767B Adelaide Motorsport Festival

By Thomas Miles

Hot off the heels of the Australian Grand Prix, the Adelaide Motorsport Festival has also released its 2025 date.

With the annual Formula 1 race around Albert Park opening the 2025 Formula 1 season on March 14-16, the Adelaide Motorsport Festival will also be in the early March window.

The annual celebration of motorsport around Victoria Park will be held a week before the Australian Grand Prix on March 8-9.

It continues the tradition of the Grand Prix and Festival being held on back to back weekends in recent years.

Organisers originally announced a proposed date for the 2025 Adelaide Motorsport Festival on March 1-2.

But now it has been brought forward to align with the Formula 1, which opens up the possibility of a number of big names returning to Victoria Park after Valtteri Bottas, Liam Lawson, Guenther Steiner, Damon Hill and David Croft all came this year.

Adelaide Motorsport Festival Event Director Tim Possingham not only confirmed the date change, but also the return of the Mazda 767B sportscar.

“This is a week later than expected but still places our event in our traditional time window,” he said.

“We would also take this opportunity to confirm we have signed an agreement that will see the Mazda 767B return to the Adelaide Motorsport Festival on March 8 and 9 in 2025.

“This car proved to be very popular this year and we can’t ignore the fact that people want to see it return.

“This time though it’s likely to be a lot louder as it will have a new straight out exhaust system next time it visits.

“We are also working on a sister car to this one to attend along with several other Le Mans cars.”
