How the Finals sit ahead of Great Race

It is an extra meaningful Bathurst Day as not only is the Great Race on the line, but also the last remaining tickets to the inaugural Supercars Finals.
Heading into the 2025 Bathurst 1000, the top six spots are secured by Broc Feeney, Cameron Waters, Will Brown, Matt Payne, Brodie Kostecki and Chaz Mostert.
The rest are yet to be determined, with Anton De Pasquale (+173), Ryan Wood (+139), Thomas Randle (+81) and Kai Allen (0) the incumbents looking to lock their spots down.
However, they will have plenty of competition with up to eight drivers still within mathematical possibility, but three within serious striking distance.
Just 132 points cover ninth-placed Thomas Randle, to 13th-placed Cameron Hill, who is 51 points from the bubble, with Andre Heimgartner and Nick Percat even closer.
With the grid set, fans can start to build a picture of how the race within a race will play out.
If the extremely unlikely scenario of the grid positions remaining the same across the 161-lap journey, there will be some significant change.
The likes of Wood, De Pasquale and Randle would be comfortably safe if they stay where they are or at least remain in the top 10.
Interestingly, the final ticket could come down to an arm wrestle between the Matt Stone Racing teammates.
At this stage, Hill holds the advantage, sneaking 11 points clear of Percat.
The other hard luck story will be Allen, who, after his lowly grid position, would fall from 10th to 12th and 59 points off the cut.
The Grove Racing rookie will need to move forward to keep his Finals dreams alive, as will the likes of Heimgartner and Le Brocq.
Locked in Tickford driver Waters suggested teams could use teammate tactics to assist Finals hopefuls, but only if winning is not on the line.
“If I can’t go and win the race, I will help for sure,” he said.
“It would be awesome to have Tommy in the finals. It has been pretty close for those last few spots.
“We have helped each other through the year and anything to help get him in we will do it.”
If they finish where they start, this is how it works:
7th Ryan Wood +268 (+1)
8th Anton De Pasquale +222 (-1)
9th Thomas Randle +158 (-)
10th Cameron Hill +11 (+3)
11th Nick Percat -11 (+1)
12th Kai Allen -59 (-2)

'description' => 'The Supercars Championship, currently known as the Repco Supercars Championship, is the premier motorsport category in Australasia and one of Australia\'s biggest sports. It originated from the Australian Touring Car Championship (ATCC), which held its first race in 1960 at Gnoo-Blas in Orange, New South Wales. The ATCC evolved over the years, and in 1997, it was rebranded as the V8 Supercars Championship, eventually becoming the Supercars Championship we know today.
Some of the leading drivers in the history of the Supercars Championship include Peter Brock, who is often referred to as the "King of the Mountain" for his nine victories at the Bathurst 1000, a race that is considered one of the biggest in the series. Other notable drivers include Dick Johnson, Marcos Ambrose, Craig Lowndes, Shane van Gisbergen, Jamie Whincup, who holds the record for the most championship titles, and Mark Skaife, who has also been a dominant force in the series.
The Bathurst 1000, held at Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales, is arguably the most famous race in the Supercars calendar. Other significant races include the Sandown 500 and the Adelaide 500, which are known for their challenging circuits and thrilling competitions.
