Ford gets pre-enduro parity adjustment

Supercars has confirmed Ford has received a “very small” parity adjustment just in time for the enduros, which start this weekend at The Bend.
Although the parity chat has quietened down in 2025, concerns still lingered about the straight-line speed of the Mustang compared to the Chevrolet Camaro.
Mount Panorama has seen the height of these concerns with Chevrolet running away with both of the Gen3 Bathurst 1000s.
So far in 2025, Chevrolet has won 15 of the 24 races, including the last five, but only one has been from outside of Triple Eight from MSR back in March.
Ford will enjoy the timing of the parity tweaks as it arrives on the eve of the AirTouch 500 at The Bend and the big one at Bathurst next month.
The updates to the Vehicle Specification Document are as follows.
- – Removal of the leading-edge packer from the side skirt.
- – Adjustment to the rear wing position and angle range.
- – A switch to smaller, North American-specification door mirrors.
- – A faster shift recovery setting.
Following the new TV deal, it is one of the first big on-track moments of James Warburton’s second stint as Supercars CEO so far.
“Following extensive testing, analysis and consultation, Supercars has approved an application from Ford’s Homologation Team to update the Vehicle Specification Document,” he said.
“Both Ford and GM reluctantly agreed to these changes, but importantly, all parties are united in the belief that this is the right outcome for the sport.
“I want to thank GM, and in particular Simon McNamara and Jeromy Moore, for working constructively with us to reach this agreement. It ensures we head into the endurance season confident that parity has been addressed.”
“These are very small adjustments, but at this level even the slightest refinement can make a difference.
“The work completed at Windshear’s wind tunnel and through the AVL dyno program has brought the cars so close that the tolerances are among the tightest of any category in the world.
“These changes were developed through the standard homologation process and are fully in line with our regulations. They form part of the ongoing process to maintain technical parity across the grid.”
