Stoner to return to Phillip Island as F1 tickets go on sale

Casey Stoner will make a celebrated return to Phillip Island at this year’s Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix as the race begins for F1 tickets.
Stoner will be the star leading the Homecoming Ride, which fires up the MotoGP weekend on Thursday, October 16.
The two-time MotoGP champion will be joined by bike enthusiasts for a journey from San Remo Bridge to the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.
In recent years, the likes of Mick Doohan, Jack Miller and Marc Marquez have all participated, giving fans the rare chance to ride alongside their heroes.
Registrations for the limited spots available for the Homecoming Ride open at 10.00 AEST on the MotoGP website.
There is no bigger name than Stoner, who has dominated Phillip Island like no one else.
Between 2007 and 2012, he was unbeatable, winning six straight Australian Motorcycle Grands Prix.

The 2007 and 2011 wins were key parts of his championship-winning years, while he emotionally waved farewell as a victor in 2012.
He remained untouchable at the fast and demanding rider’s circuit even during his toughest times, such as 2009 when he struggled with illness.
Since Stoner retired, no rider has been able to win successive MotoGP wins at Phillip Island.
Stoner is looking forward to a special return.
“Phillip Island has given me some of my greatest moments, so to return by leading the Homecoming Ride and be recognised with a Lap of Honour is very special,” Stoner said.
“It is a great chance to celebrate and thank the fans whose passion, energy, and loyalty throughout my career is something I will always cherish.”
Meanwhile, the race to secure the prized and cherished tickets to 2026 Qatar Airways Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix has begun.
American Express cardholders enjoy a pre sale, which started at 12.00 AEST on Wednesday, September 3.
The pre sale runs for an entire week before lights go out for the general public at 12.00 AEST Wednesday, September 10.
Tickets for the MotoGP in October remain widely available.
