Hazelwood amazed by TFH’s Trans Am growth

Reigning Trans Am champion Todd Hazelwood returns to the scene of where the journey all started with TFH Racing this weekend at Sandown.
Back in February 2024, Hazelwood and TFH Racing arrived to Trans Am as complete newbies and found themselves in the thick of things straight away.
But the pair have grown a long way since then, highlighted by their title triumph at the end of their rookie campaign.
In 2025, the title defence has seen Hazelwood and TFH Racing rise to a new level.
Six wins have pushed the #1 Mustang a commanding 74 points clear of nearest rival Nathan Herne.
Hazelwood feels he and the team have lifted their games in 2025.
“We have gone to another level,” he told Auto Action.
“It was our debut here at Sandown last year and looking back, where our set-up was, it is almost laughable how much we have grown as a team in 18 months.
“We have done a hell of a lot of work behind the scenes and the growth has been exponential.
“At the start of last year we had just one car and now we have up to six cars at times
“Hopefully, we can keep the good times flowing.”
Things have gotten off to a strong start as well with Hazelwood not leaving the top two across the first two practice sessions.
If there is one negative to Hazelwood’s 2025 so far, it is qualifying where he is yet to get pole and that is what he has his eyes locked on this weekend.
“We have got a solid start and happy with how we have gone so far,” he said of practice pace.
“But practice is out of the way now and it is time to focus on where the money is earnt.
“The focus is qualifying well to set up our weekend. We have not qualified off the front row all season in 2025.
“The team and I at TFH have been working really hard behind the scenes to keep improving these cars.
“Being sprint rounds with such little chance of passing or making pit stops, it is everything.
“It is the same mentality when I won the Super2 and Trans Am titles where just having a fast car and getting good starts gives you the best chance of putting together a title.
“I have just been trying to pick my battles, there are a lot of fast guys around me that are desperate to win and knock me off the top.”
Qualifying for Trans Am takes place at 16.00 AEST.
