Formula Ford makes comeback to the “Paperclip”

For the first time in six years, a national-level Formula Ford meeting will take place at Queensland Raceway during this weekend’s 2 Days of Thunder.
The new AASA-run Formula Ford Stars and Renegades is the platform making this happen, as part of the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series.
The Hi-Tec Oils Super Series sees the return of the annual 2 Days of Thunder event where TA2 Muscle Cars, Formula RX8, Legend Cars Australia, Australian Excel Championship, QLD Production Cars, QLD Production Sports, SuperTT and Combined Tin Tops, Replica Tourers and QTCC are all being held.
In the fight for the Formula Fords, everyone will be looking to slow Kobi Williams.
The experienced open-wheel racer has enjoyed a flying start to the season and enjoys a commanding 157-point lead.
His position was strengthened by a clean sweep at Sydney, but the opposition may sense an opportunity given he has never raced at Queensland Raceway before.
The likes of Joe Fawcett, Lachlan Evennett and Will Lowing have emerged as the nearest contenders.
Elsewhere, the Australian Production Cars Enduro Championship heats up with Tom Hayman joining the field.
Leading the way is the TA2 Muscle Car Series, where there will be a greater presence of Chevrolet.
In addition to backing championship leader Jarrod Hughes, Alice Buckley will stand out racing a Camaro filled with the brand’s signature black and gold colours.
Practice has started today with racing over the weekend and kids under 12 can attend for free.
