The long-awaited Chevrolet alliance is no longer a plan for 2026 – it’s happening now.

Team 18 boss Charlie Schwerkolt has confirmed that collaboration between Chevrolet-aligned teams will begin in July, with Erebus Motorsport and Team 18 spearheading the early rollout of data sharing and technical integration.

“Right now, we’re not sharing anything with anyone, so just having that kind of alliance is going to be a great first step,” Schwerkolt told Auto Action. “Both teams need to be on board. Some information is sensitive—it’s got to go both ways, and there needs to be trust.”

Talks between Erebus boss Barry Ryan and Team 18 engineering head Adrian Burgess are already underway, with Simon McNamara’s appointment as Chevrolet competition boss expected to bring structure to the rollout.

“I think Simon’s putting it together—when we can start and all that sort of stuff,” Schwerkolt said. “For us, any performance gain is critical. If we can share and learn from each other, that’s a win.”

The move comes after Chevrolet named Team 18 as its new homologation team earlier this year, replacing Triple Eight in a strategic shake-up of General Motors’ Supercars operations. GM has since worked behind the scenes to build a unified technical program across its supported teams under The Chevrolet Alliance banner.
