Tickford wildcard released in unique way

Dalton Gray

By Thomas Miles

Tickford Racing has carried its signature humour to the new Wildcard by launching the campaign on social media.

At Wanneroo, Hidden Valley, The Bend and Bathurst, there will be three Tickford Mustangs on the grid.

In addition to Thomas Randle and Cameron Waters, both Lochie Dalton and Rylan Gray will drive a wildcard.

Dalton will be the first to race at the next Supercars round in Perth, while Gray will make an anticipated debut at Darwin before the pair team up in the enduros.

Tickford has officially revealed the wildcard in hilarious style, claiming a Mustang was stolen by balaclava-wearing figures, who were in fact Dalton and Gray.

The pair are on track today testing a plain blue, white and black Mustang at Winton in preparation for the wildcard campaign.

Gray is in strong form after leading a Tickford 1-2-3 in the Super2 round at Symmons Plains and hinted at the current rest.

“We will be in the Gen3 car in the next couple of weeks so focus will be on that soon,” Gray said.

“Pretty cool to be doing a wildcard in the main game and super pumped for that.

“You just learn as much as you can and Frosty (Mark Winterbottom) knows that the track well, so I will listen closely to him.

“Just executing is the main thing and looking forward to seeing how we end up.

“I will support Lochie (Dalton) and his wildcard in Perth before we head over to Darwin.”
