AUSSIE PODIUM SCOOP IN GB3 OPENER

GB3 begins at Silverstone

By Timothy Neal

The first round of the British GB3 Championship at Silverstone had four young Aussies on track, with all of them finding themselves in contention.

European Junior Formulae regulars Alex Ninovic (Rodin), Patrick Heuzenroeder (Xcel), Noah Lisle (JHR), and Gianmarco Pradel (Rodin) all took to the starting line, with all four of them having proved themselves to be a talented crop over the past few season.

Only Ninovic didn’t feature on the podium but spent two races in the top five (he also claimed the unofficial lap record at Silverstone in testing), whilst Lisle showed his pace with two second place finishes behind British youngster Freddie Slater.

Pradel and Heuzenroeder both added to the podium tally with a third place each, with the latter taking out his P3 in the hectic reverse grid Race 3, where all-three of the other Aussies found themselves in strife with retirements.

They all featured in Qualifying also, with Pradel at Lisle starting two-three for the opener, whilst Ninovic and Lisle did the same for Q2.

For Lisle, who took the biggest points scoop of the four in the first two races, he finds himself second in the championship, whilst Pradel, Heuzenroeder, Ninovic fill out four-to-sixth.

They werent the only Aussies on the grid at the Silverstone GP circuit also, with young Jack Taylor in his second year of the GB4 championship.

The Fortec driver also managed to take out a podium and a P4 at Round 2 of their season, as well as having fourth and fifth place finishes in the Qualifying sessions.

Next up for the GB3 field is the first of three continental rounds, with a trip to Zandvoort on May 17-18, followed by Spa and the Hungaroring.

And in the GB4, Taylor will take on Oulton Park on May 25-26.
