Beswick leads Aussie team to America

Australian Formula Ford Champion Eddie Beswick will take on America with home-grown outfit Synergy Motorsport in 2025.
Both Beswick and Synergy Motorsport will aim to together take the fight to the Americans in the USF2000 Championship.
The Melbourne based Synergy Motorsport has been around since 2008, whilst owner Justin Cotter competed in Formula Ford himself and now dreams of seeing the Aussie operation become a big part of the pathway to IndyCar.
Beswick will be the latest young Aussie to go to the USA for the next step in their racing career.
Instead of doing the comfortable thing and looking to break into Supercars, the teenager is going to the other side of the Pacific as he hopes to follow the likes of Lochie Hughes and Tommy Smith in Indy NXT and Will Power to IndyCar.
The USF2000 Championship is the second step on the road to IndyCar with only USF Pro 2000 and Indy NXT ahead.
Cotter will initially enter one USF2000 car for Beswick, but is planning to expand to additional entries throughout the season, before tackling some of the other categories.
Beswick already has a taste of this level having finished 14th and 17th at Toronto.

He is the second confirmed Australian on the 2025 grid with Brad Majman also locked in to compete with Jay Howard Driver Development.
“The USF2000 car is a different beast, but the technical nature of the Formula Ford car and level of competition in the Australian series have prepared me well,” Beswick said.
“There are some regulation changes for 2025, which will hopefully level the playing field for us coming in as a new team.
“Justin is like another member of my family and has taught me a lot about not just racing, but life in general.
“He’s very passionate about the sport, and it’s an honour to be part of this next stage in Synergy Motorsport’s journey.”
It will also be a big step up for Australian squad Synergy Motorsport.
The Dandenong based operation was established in 2008 and has been focused on Formula Ford.
In addition to Beswick, Chaz Mostert also won the prestigious national title with them in 2010, plus John Martin and Paul Laskazeski.
Porsche global superstar Matt Campbell and current Super2 driver Cody Burcher have also been on its list.

“I’ve always been a fan of the US racing scene and have kept a close eye on Will Power, Ryan Briscoe and Scott Andrews, amongst others,” Cotter said.
“The open-wheel racing scene is well-structured, with a scholarship system that provides financial support for drivers to progress through the USF Juniors, USF2000, USF Pro and Indy NXT categories, before ultimately making it to IndyCar.
“There’s also a thriving sportscar racing scene and overall, I just feel there are more opportunities for young drivers to pursue professional opportunities.
“The name ‘Synergy’ means a group of people working together to achieve a common goal, and I’m confident we have the right people in place to achieve great results in the US, while continuing our Australian Formula Ford operations.”
Things get underway with a test at NOLA Motorsports Park on 22-23 February, while the season begins with IndyCar at St Petersburg on February 28-March 2.
