Aston Martin Vulcan on Track at Mount Panorama

A very rare piece of Aston Martin’s performance and motorsport history will be on show and on track during the 2025 Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour event.
The Aston Martin Vulcan, owned by entrepreneur and motorsport enthusiast Tony Quinn, is an ultra-low run, track-only Supercar developed by the iconic English brand in 2015.
Launched as a tribute to the famous Le Mans 24 Hour race, at which Aston Martin has competed successfully, the Vulcan is a rare beast with only 24 ever made. Powered by an 800hp, 7-litre V12 engine, the car has a top speed of well over 330km/hr.
Quinn’s car was purchased in 2016 and is the only one in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Vulcan is normally based at Highlands Motorsport Park in Cromwell and is seldom used and rarely seen outside of New Zealand, making its 12-Hour appearance even more special.
On track demonstration sessions by historic and significant vehicles during the event, have become a hugely popular part of the weekend.
Previous demonstration runs have included Liam Lawson in a Red Bull Formula 1 Car, Luke Youlden lapping the Brabham BT62 while 2024 featured both the iconic Ford Supervan and an unrestricted, special-edition Mercedes-AMG GT3 car.

“I’ve had the pleasure of seeing – and hearing – the Vulcan run once before and it’s an incredible thing, the noise is phenomenal, and it looks awesome.”
“It’s really going to add something special to our demonstration sessions this year, which will once again have some truly unique, exciting and superb cars and drivers involved for the entertainment of our fans at the event.” Shane Rudzis, Event Director of the Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour, said.
The Vulcan’s addition to the event comes as Quinn launches the updated and expanded edition of his 2016 autobiography, Zero to 60.

Now running to a hefty 416 pages, the updated version of the book uses Quinn’s knack for a ‘gift of the gab’ to detail his life story, from a wooden caravan to VIP Petfoods, his driving career to his expanding motor racing empire, which includes key New Zealand and Australian circuits, plus a stake in Triple Eight Race Engineering.
It also documents his recovery from a significant crash aboard a Porsche in Townsville, dealt with in his typical ‘never say die’ approach.
“One of the gifts I was born with was the gift of the gab and I’ve always said that the most important thing you can leave behind is your story.
“The original book went to number one in NZ and we were looking to run more copies but so much had happened both commercially and personally I thought it was important to add those in… I’d bought Queensland Raceway, was involved with Triple Eight, I’d suffered a massive race car accident, and I also wanted to include my top business tips for budding entrepreneurs!” Quinn explained.
The book has just jumped back to the top of the New Zealand best-sellers list, backing up the achievements of the first addition.
The book, which retails for $39.95, will be available to purchase at the Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour, with Quinn to be on hand to sign copies at the event – in between steering the Vulcan.
Tickets, camping and corporate opportunities remain on sale for Australia’s International Enduro, to be held between 31 January and 2 February next year.

The ATCC evolved over the years, and in 1997, it was rebranded as the V8 Supercars Championship, eventually becoming the Supercars Championship we know today.
Some of the leading drivers in the history of the Supercars Championship include Peter Brock, who is often referred to as the "King of the Mountain" for his nine victories at the Bathurst 1000, a race that is considered one of the biggest in the series. Other notable drivers include Dick Johnson, Marcos Ambrose, Craig Lowndes, Shane van Gisbergen, Jamie Whincup, who holds the record for the most championship titles, and Mark Skaife, who has also been a dominant force in the series.
The Bathurst 1000, held at Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales, is arguably the most famous race in the Supercars calendar. Other significant races include the Sandown 500 and the Adelaide 500, which are known for their challenging circuits and thrilling competitions.
