SPRINTCARS TO FLY AT REDLINE RACEWAY

By Auto Action

Sprintcar racing returns to Redline Raceway this Saturday evening when 360ci and Chevrolet LS engines do battle for points.

The 360/LS competitors will be taking on the second round of their twelve round season aggregate this week supported by Kings Scrap Metal.

Amongst the nominations are Bacchus Marsh racers James Oliver who finished strongly at the first round in Warrnambool and Steven Horton, along with local Delacombe man Sam Wren.

Street Stocks, Standard Saloons will compete and the Super Modifieds and Classic Sprintcars will run some demonstration laps.

Harry Ross who finished the highest in the final at Warrnambool amongst this week’s nominations, leads the entries that along with Oliver, Horton and Wren, also include front runners such as Chris Solomon, Daniel Storer, Charles Hunter, second season Sprintcar racer Thomas McDonald, veteran racer Dennis Jones, Brenton Farrer, and Matthew Symons.
On the back of a strong showing at our first race meeting Ballarat racer Robert Smith is hoping to have a say in this weekend’s Street Stock racing.
Smith was amongst the top four for much of night one of our season however this weekend he will come up against Shaun Henry a perennial front of field runner, Scott Secombe and Nathan Fawns who both had trying nights two weeks ago and will be looking to move on from that with a podium result, whilst Leigh Gooding a winner last season at Avalon Raceway is keen to add Redline Raceway on his list of places to have won at.
Josh Davey buckles up again as does Cody Blomeley and Mick Hume all representing the Ballarat club.

Jack Yeomans a winner at Bairnsdale Speedway this past Saturday is keen, travelling to Redline from Latrobe Valley to compete this Saturday.

Yeomans will be up against Joel McInnes, Samantha Paterson, Aaron Meakins, Courtney Meakins, Bailey Sinclair who was third two weeks ago and Rick Stowe looking to secure that Redline feature race victory he missed out on after qualifying front row at our first event.

Charmaine Bryans, Sean Oakes-Rogers Liz Hardie, Luke Head are amongst other greater Ballarat locals competing with hopes of finishing on the podium.

Rounding out all the on-track action is the Super Modifieds and Classic Sprintcars Vintage Club. Whilst the drivers are not competing for victory, they are out their having a great time showing off their restored and maintained cars from the 60s and into the 90s.
Super Modifieds being the forerunner to the Sprintcars have a unique and distinct look to themselves, whilst the Classic Sprintcars with their standout aerofoil wings are the older models to what still competes in the sport today.
Racing begins at 4:00pm finishing around 10:30pm, Spectator gates open at 2pm and entry is at 569 Yankee Flat Road Buninyong. Eftpos is available and onsite food vans operate.
