WAU confident of Mostert repair

Mostert

By Thomas Miles

WAU’s Team Principal Carl Faux is adamant the damaged #25 Chaz Mostert Mustang will be fixed for Practice 2 at Bathurst.

Mostert became the Mountain’s first victim of the 2025 Bathurst 1000 weekend, locking up and spearing into the Griffins Bend tyre barrier.

Due to the lock up, no speed was taken off and the two-time Great Race winner went in very hard.

As a result, there was significant front-left damage.

However, WAU is certain co-driver Fabian Coulthard will get plenty of laps in Practice 2.

“The car will be ready for the next session,” Faux confirmed to Auto Actino.

“We are not stressed because the cars have been fast.

“If they were chasing speed, it is a different story when they see it going. They start thinking about how to fix it for the car.”

Despite the impact, Faux believes the damage is mainly cosmetic and not too structural.

“There is a lot that looks bad and there are a few things that are not ideal,” he said.

“We have tweaked the radiator so we have to change that and a bit of steering damage.

“The biggest thing we have got is actually changing the fire system because someone put it off on track.

“You saw on the way back the body come off, but as far as structural items, everything is fine.

“No damage to driver or chassis, just a lot of cosmetic work.”

WAU has until 16.50 AEDT to be ready for Practice 2.
