Six free-to-air Supercars rounds in 2025

By Thomas Miles
Date posted: 5 November 2024
Whilst the 2025 Supercars season has grown by one more round, there will be no additional free-to-air events for fans without Foxtel or Kayo.
This year Channel Seven has shown six events live, the Bathurst 500, Darwin Triple Crown, Townsville 500, Bathurst 1000, Gold Coast 500 and Adelaide 500.
Although the 2025 season will grow from 12 to 13 rounds, that number and amount will remain the same with Seven kicking its coverage off with the season-opening Sydney 500 in February.
The following Melbourne, Taupo, Tasmania and Wanneroo Sprint Cup rounds will all be exclusive to Fox Sports.
A free-to-air double header follows at Darwin and Townsville, while the next Channel Seven round is not until the Bathurst 1000 on October 12.
Before then Ipswich will make a return, while the trend of no free-to-air broadcast of the 500km enduro continues after the change of venue from Sandown to The Bend.
With Seven retaining the signature street races at the Gold Coast and Adelaide, Sandown will again be the a subscription only race and the only round of the Supercars Finals not on Seven.
As usual, fans will need Foxtel or Kayo to watch every Supercars session ad-break free from all 13 rounds, marking a decade since it took over the rights in the landmark 2015 season.
The 2025 season will be the last of the current $200 million agreement between Foxtel and Seven that was signed in 2020.
Under the deal, Fox Sports/Kayo have rights to broadcast every round and session of the Supercars Championship, having done so since 2015.
Meanwhile, Channel Seven gets to simulcast six selected live events and show late-night highlights packages of the rest, which can also be streamed on 7plus.
In New Zealand Supercars will remain on Sky Sports.
“The 2025 Supercars season brings unprecedented excitement for fans with our new Finals Series, and we’re thrilled to continue working with Foxtel and Seven to bring the action to millions of fans across Australia,” Nathan Prendergast, Supercars Head of Broadcast said.
“2025 is going to be an historic year in our championship with more racing, revamped weekend formats, and the all-new Finals series, which will keep fans on the edge of their seats and glued to their screens.
“We are very excited about the season ahead, and are looking forward to working with Foxtel and the Seven Network to bring a world-class broadcast product to our fans across the country.”

'description' => 'The Supercars Championship, currently known as the Repco Supercars Championship, is the premier motorsport category in Australasia and one of Australia\'s biggest sports. It originated from the Australian Touring Car Championship (ATCC), which held its first race in 1960 at Gnoo-Blas in Orange, New South Wales. The ATCC evolved over the years, and in 1997, it was rebranded as the V8 Supercars Championship, eventually becoming the Supercars Championship we know today.
Some of the leading drivers in the history of the Supercars Championship include Peter Brock, who is often referred to as the "King of the Mountain" for his nine victories at the Bathurst 1000, a race that is considered one of the biggest in the series. Other notable drivers include Dick Johnson, Marcos Ambrose, Craig Lowndes, Shane van Gisbergen, Jamie Whincup, who holds the record for the most championship titles, and Mark Skaife, who has also been a dominant force in the series.
The Bathurst 1000, held at Mount Panorama Circuit in Bathurst, New South Wales, is arguably the most famous race in the Supercars calendar. Other significant races include the Sandown 500 and the Adelaide 500, which are known for their challenging circuits and thrilling competitions.
