Miller bounces back from tough start

Jack Miller was left to wonder what could have been after bouncing back from a costly opening lap to 11th on home soil.
In his eighth Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, but last for KTM, Miller pushed forward rising from 15th to 11th.
However, it could have been more as the #43 sat 10th for much of the race before Fabio Quartararo flew past with five laps to go.
In the end the hometown favourite fell six tenths short of the top 10 that was rounded out by Raul Fernandez.
Whilst there was no wildlife this time, Miller stated a moment with Alex Marquez on the opening lap unseen by TV was even more costly.
“I got a mega start and then Alex Marquez decided to turn in onto me so I was dead last at turn 2,” Miller revealed.
“The pace was decent at the start, I was able to reel them in and make some passes, but it would have been nice to have a start like we already had (on Saturday).”
In a largely uneventful race, tyre management was the name of the game across 27 laps on the new track surface.
Miller said he felt the front tyre start to struggle just three laps from home.
“I was trying to chase Raul and the whole group down, but gave it a little bit too much, more so on the front end,” he said.
“With probably about three laps left the front started to go and then had to start relying on the rear to bring it around.
“Fabio slipped by when I was really pushing to try and battle with those boys, but could not do much more.”
After returning to the top 10 in Japan and showing flashes of speed at Phillip Island, Miller hopes to carry on the momentum in Thailand this weekend.
