Power and Penske end mammoth stand

After a 17-year partnership achieving the highest of highs, Australia’s Will Power and Team Penske have gone their separate ways.
It ends the defining chapter of Power’s stunning career in America, having joined Penske back in 2009 and left with an everlasting legacy.
The American giant helped the Toowoomba talent become the first Australian to win both the Indianapolis 500 and IndyCar title.
He won two titles in 2014 and 2022, while winning the Indianapolis 500 in 2018.
All up, Power has collected 42 wins and 71 poles when representing the “Captain” with the iconic Verizon colours.
These successes have made the Aussie become the fourth most successful driver ever in American open-wheel racing and the best ever qualifier.
Speculation was in full swing after the recent finale at Nashville when Power embraced crew members in emotional scenes post race.
Remarkably Power has won at least one race in every season aside from 2023 with his latest win just three races ago in Portland.
Power said it will always be an “honour” to have raced so well for so long in Penske colours.
“It’s been the honor of my life to drive for Roger and the Penske organisation,” said Power.
“We have accomplished so much together, and I will always be grateful for my time with the team and my teammates who have supported me along the way.
“After much consideration, I felt like a change for me was the right move at this time.”
Roger Penske said Power has left an ever-lasting mark on the team.
“As we sat down to talk about our future together, Will felt that it was time for him to make a change beginning with next season,” said Roger Penske.
“He has been an outstanding driver and teammate for our organisation.
“His results speak for themselves, and we wish him the very best in the next phase of his career.”
