Australian Grand Prix ticket sales delayed

By Thomas Miles

The general public has been forced to wait an extra day to chase tickets to the 2025 Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix due to a “third party outage.”

With the Access24 (October 2) and Ballot (October 7) presales already out of the way, the general public were expected to be given their chance to chase F1 tickets from 12.00 AEST today (Tuesday, October 8).

However, a “global third party outage” has forced has meant tickets will not be available for another 24 hours.

“Due to a global third-party outage, the FORMULA 1 AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX 2025 general public onsale will be delayed until tomorrow, Wednesday 9 October 12pm (AEDT).  We apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding,” read a statement from the F1 Australian Grand Prix.

It is believed the outage stems from an issue with the Ticketmaster platform with record crowds and greater demand on Australian Grand Prix tickets than ever before expected next year.

But to add insult to injury, it is believed fans in New Zealand have been able to purchase tickets and not be as impacted by the outage.

With Liam Lawson expected to race for Racing Bulls in 2025, a larger than usual number of fans can be expected to fly across the Tasman.

But there is even greater demand in Australia with Oscar Piastri and McLaren challenging for wins and Jack Doohan to make his debut at Albert Park.

After breaking records in 2022, 2023 and 2024, even bigger crowds are anticipated for the 2025 Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, which hosts the F1 season opener for the first time in six years next year.

Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO Travis Auld told AUTO ACTION there were 100,000 people in the queue buying tickets last year.

“We had 100,000 people in the queue when we went on sale, and Ticketmaster says that’s pretty much unprecedented demand,” Auld told AUTO ACTION.

“This year, we sold out Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, so the focus is now in terms of growing attendance on Thursday.”
