New class added Peking to Paris

The iconic and gruelling Peking to Paris Motor Challenge has opened a new Invitation class for its ninth edition in 2025.
The five-car Invitation class is open for pre 1985 2WD rally cars that include the likes of Mercedes SLC, Peugeot 205, Alfa Romeo, Porsche 911 and Talbot Sunbeam Ti.
The Peking to Paris event has achieved cult like status since being revived in 1997.
It sees competitors drive classic cars for the best part of 15,000 kilometres and 37 days from China to France.
This year Australian entry Matt Bryson and Mike Pink were victorious.
The pair in their Australian built 1974 Leyland P76 topped the Classic Category having been pushed hard by Lars and Annette Rolner in their stylish 911 Safari across the massive 37-day journey from China to France.
For Bryson, it was a particularly notable moment being his fourth Peking to Paris Rally victory, which is a new record for an individual driver.
Before teaming up with Pink, Bryson raced with Garry Crown with great success, winning three times.
Their first was in 2010 in an EH Holden before they took two more wins in the Leyland P76 in 2013 and 2019, with the latter arriving when Crown was a remarkable 87 years old.
Bryson then added an unprecedented fourth victory after he and Pink excelled in 2024.
The 2025 Peking to Paris from May 17-June 22.
