Miller more hopeful of MotoGP future

Miller

Jack Miller is more optimistic about a future in MotoGP as rumours pick up around a potential reunion with Pramac Racing.

After claiming “my phone ain’t ringing” at the conclusion of the summer break at Silverstone, Miller said his “mood is a little bit better” at the Red Bull Ring.

This follows strong rumours that the Australian, who has been dumped by KTM, is in advanced talks with a return to Pramac Racing for 2025.

The #43 was in Pramac colours from 2018-2020, which paved the way for a step up to the Ducati factory outfit.

However, in 2025 Pramac will make the big switch from Ducati to Yamaha machinery.

Sky Sports Italy reported Miller is “increasingly closer to closing an agreement with the Australian” and is expected to be placed alongside Miguel Oliveira.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix, Miller revealed he is “trying to sort something out.”

“Nothing is set in stone. I’d love for something to come up, but we’ll wait and see,” he said.

“My mood is a little bit better (than Silverstone), it doesn’t seem like the world is crumbling around me.

“There’s truth to the rumours, we’re in contact and trying to sort something out.

“I feel like my time here is not done yet and I feel like I have a lot more to give.

“I would love the opportunity to try and show more.”

Miller is keen for an upturn in pace as his current 2024 season where he sits 16th in the standings is his worst since his second campaign back in 2016 for Marc VDS.

There have been opinions swirling around the paddock that Miller’s nationality could be a factor, but silenced that and wanted it decided on his speed.

“Whether or not you’re Australian or Spanish or Chinese or whatever, if you’re going fast they’re going to sign you,” Miller replied.

“I don’t want it to be on my passport, I want it to be on my speed.

“Obviously Spain and Italy have extremely strong riders at this point in time, but I don’t want to be here just because of my passport, that doesn’t give me any interest at all.

“I want to be here because I believe I can challenge these guys.

“In Q2 last week and the top seven in the sprint race … we’ve still got speed, and I feel like I’ve still got more to learn and grow.

“I don’t want to be here just because I’m an Australian.”
